We began our journey at 4AM from Kelowna and made a stop in New Westminster to grab some breakfast. New Westminster was a special place for me as I used to live there for a few years, and it was a perfect spot to reminisce for a bit. After breakfast, we continued our journey and arrived in Vancouver at around 10 AM.
The manufacturer's shop was of fair size and filled with machinery and products. We were warmly greeted by Ben, who gave us a rundown of the whole program and some of the projects his company has undertaken. After some introduction, Ben took us to the back of the shop where a piece of fabric was laid out on a big table. He then waited for us to cut the fabric, and we were able to get a video of our first prototype being cut out with the laser machine. The fabric sat on the table, and a laser head moved around, cutting the fabric out with impressive precision. The first pair was on the table!
After the machine had cut out the fabric, we were able to go over a few more details, and Ben shared a wealth of valuable information with us. We are now one step closer to getting the prototype built and one step closer to a final product!
